What is single sourcing?
-Single sourcing is the ability to take the same content and deliver in various formats. This allows labor to be downsized because a creator has to make content only one time instead of continually creating the same content over and over again.
What are the benefits related to single sourcing?
-This process saves both money and time. When using single sourcing, information is only written down one time and then delivered through various mediums. This means that the creator does not have to take the time to continual reproduce redundant information. This also saves money because fewer people are needed to distribute and create this content because it’s only being created one time. Information also tends to be more accurate because only one source of content needs to be reviewed for accuracy. A person is not continually creating the same information because they are using only one document to format many.
What are the problems related to single sourcing?
-When making a document into various forms, the creator needs to make sure that their document is accessible to their audience in various means and comprehendible. Even though the information may be the same in a paper manual and an online manual, people tend to read physical documents differently than on a screen so the format must be successful for both audiences use.
What does single sourcing mean to social media?
-Single sourcing allows for a person or company to distribute the same information multiple times. This means that if a company has an event coming up and they write a post saying “Come To _____ Event! Saturday, April 21, 2012 at _____ Place and _____ Time” they can take this same post and put it on multiple social media outlets (Facebook status, Twitter post, Tumblr post, etc.) This is an easy way for the person to save time by distributing the same information from multiple sources but it also allows for their information to reach more audiences. This also allows users to get information out by sharing content.
What are other benefits of employing single sourcing through social media?
-By using social media to single source, pages can also be linked or have links on them. This means that a user who is the audience of one social media outlet, can be linked to other social media outlets, as well as the page that the author would like the audience to take a look at.
Just a little video about accessiblity on the web and the average person. And their accents kick ass.
This is a list I found of the top ten rules of designing your own webpage. A lot of the points are pretty dead-on. Check it out.
I created this photo because the two separate photos fascinated me and the idea of combining the two seemed interesting. Although both pictures were pretty dark, they seemed to have so much more going on in them than just what I could see by looking at them. I like how you cannot not see the expression of the girl holding the umbrella, but instead leave it up to the imagination to see how see is feeling/what she is thinking.
These colors are so cool! I love that you can pick and chose and do what you please with it. I’m not entirely sure what I can do with this, but I like that it shows you all these different colors that we can use with HTML. Just a litle funsies.
I know they have these books for absolutely everything, but I still thought it was funny that I found it. And it’s useful! I need simple instuctions with baby-type language in order for me to understand what on earth I’m doing when it comes to anything on the web. And this is it! I like that they have a little bit online, so I’m not forced to go out and buy the actual book. I like their use of visuals and charts, because everyone likes to look at pictures instead of reading things, it’s pretty common knowledge here in college.

I have never really given the two concepts much thought. But after reading the module on it, I can totally see the differences in society. People never stop to thing about the privileges they are entitled to simply because of their race or sexual orientation. You may not realize it, but the discrimination that people face goes hand-in-hand with the privileges they get in society. However ridiculous this sounds, the right to marry is apparently a privilege in certain states and gays and lesbians do not have that privilege. Poorer people do not have the privilege to obtain better education and better lifestyles. White people have the privilege of not having to deal with the discrimination that African Americans have faced over the years in our country. I think the concept of power is a more fair one. Power can be earned and power can be taken away. It is something people should work for, and something people should be afraid of losing. While power can be dangerous, I believe if it is obtained fairly and not taken advantage of, it can make better people.
